Our Name
'The Ashton Fox Story'
Ashton Fox stands for clarity, modernity and simple & direct communication. As a solicitors firm, we want to stand out from the crowd as well as respecting the heritage of our location, profession and the industries we work with predominantly.
The name 'Ashton' has a strong association with Lancaster - The Ashton Memorial was commissioned by Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife and can be viewed from miles around. Born in Lancaster, Lord Ashton became a millionaire producing oil cloth and linoleum which was exported from the port all over the world. It serves as a reminder of the importance of Lancaster as a thriving commercial centre, not only in times past but also now in the 21st century.
The name Fox is linked to Lancaster University by George Fox, the notable Quaker who fought injustice, and there is a building named after him on the campus.
The founding partners of this firm held their initial meetings in and around the city of Lancaster, most notably at the University, so the name reflects our personal heritage as well as that of our surroundings.
